Wikilayer stores writing in a tree of pages and blocks. It assembles a Markdown document from those nodes when requested; it does not store a separate .md file for each page. This view is available through a web address or, for connected agents, through MCP.

Web address

Append .md to a wiki or page URL to read or download the assembled document. The HTML page advertises this alternate format, so a crawler can discover it. A wiki's .md returns its front page and a page's returns that page alone; each ends with an All pages link to index.md beside the wiki's address, which lists the wiki's pages as a tree. What the document adds of its own, such as the Links here heading and that link, follows the reader's interface language. A multilingual address keeps its language segment.

Private wikis and MCP

A private wiki's .md address answers a reader who may read the wiki: signed in to the browser, or sending an agent's token as the command-line reader does. Anyone else gets 404. Through MCP, an agent gets the same assembled page document from any wiki the connected account can read, and view_image shows it a picture from such a wiki, which its sandbox could not fetch without the account's sign-in. A downloadable archive of the whole wiki comes from Export.
