Export the wiki from Wikilayer.org as a .wikilayer.zip archive, then import it into a local installation of version 1.1.1 or later. The import creates a new private wiki. Wikilayer.org itself has no import.
Import with Homebrew
Start the service from the Homebrew setup if it is not already running:
brew services start wikilayer/tap/wikilayer
Run the importer against the private PostgreSQL socket used by this installation. Replace the archive path with the file you downloaded:
DATABASE_URL="postgres://$(id -un)@/wikilayer?host=$(brew --prefix)/var/wikilayer/socket&sslmode=disable" \
STORAGE_DIR="$(brew --prefix)/var/wikilayer/uploads" \
wikilayer import "$HOME/Downloads/my-wiki.wikilayer.zip"
Open your local Wikilayer home and check the wiki's pages and files before deleting the archive.
Import with Docker
From the cloned docker directory of the Docker setup, start the containers, then mount the folder containing your downloaded archive into a one-off importer:
docker compose up -d
docker compose run --rm -v "$HOME/Downloads:/imports:ro" wikilayer import /imports/my-wiki.wikilayer.zip
Replace my-wiki.wikilayer.zip with your archive's filename. The archive's files go to the Docker uploads volume. Open your local Wikilayer to check the imported wiki.
