# ChatGPT ChatGPT does not reach this local installation directly: its MCP requests come from OpenAI's servers, while the installation listens only on your computer. OpenAI's [Secure MCP Tunnel](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/secure-mcp-tunnels) carries them here: a tunnel client runs on this computer, and in ChatGPT the server is added with the Tunnel connection. A client on this computer, such as [Codex](page:59322), needs no tunnel, and ChatGPT also connects to [Wikilayer.org's hosted server](page:43476).
