# Claude

Connect Claude Code on the computer running Wikilayer. The Claude.ai web connector cannot reach a server bound to `localhost`.

## Claude Code

Run this on the computer where Wikilayer is installed:

```sh
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user wikilayer http://localhost:38731/mcp
```

In Claude Code, run `/mcp` to check that **wikilayer** is connected. This local single-user server does not ask you to sign in through a browser.

## Claude.ai and Claude Desktop

A custom web connector in Claude.ai or Claude Desktop connects from Anthropic's cloud, so it cannot use this local address; the steps on this page connect Claude Code. For Claude.ai, use [Wikilayer.org's hosted connector](page:43475) instead.
