The State Bank of Vietnam (Ngân hàng Nhà nước Việt Nam, SBV) is the central bank of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the sole issuer of the Vietnamese đồng. It was formed in 1976 by the merger of the National Bank of Vietnam (founded in Hanoi on 6 May 1951 as the central bank of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) with the National Bank of the Republic of Vietnam in the south, two years after the fall of Saigon and the reunification of the country.

Its headquarters sit at 49 Lý Thái Tổ Street in central Hanoi, in a French-colonial neoclassical building originally constructed in the 1930s for the Banque de l'Indochine. The bank reports directly to the Government of Vietnam, with the Governor holding ministerial rank in the cabinet.
